Facilities can have thousands of bearings under one roof.
You know some bearings are healthy and some bearings are bad. As a result, you are putting your assets at risk of bearing failure and unexpected downtime. Use ultrasound to eliminate guesswork and easily identify the earliest stage of bearing failure, protect your bearings and assets from breakdowns, and prolong the life of your assets.
What is Ultrasonic Bearing Condition Monitoring?
Ultrasound can be used on all bearing speeds, even on extremely slow-speed bearings, and is simple to use. It provides the earliest detection of an unhealthy bearing, even before temperature and vibration increase. Using ultrasound, the decibel level (dB) reading is the best indicator of bearing health. Ultrasound tells you everything you need to know about the health of your bearings. This allows you to take corrective action before oncoming failure results in unexpected downtime.
As friction increases due to oncoming failure, there will be a rise in the dB level detected by ultrasound.
Set the baseline dB level of the bearing in the instrument
Consistently monitor the change in dB level, indicating the health of the bearing
+8dB above baseline indicates lack of lubrication
+16dB above baseline indicates damage to the bearing
+35dB above baseline indicates critical failure
